Amazon, a retail giant, has announced a new service called Prime Now: a one hour delivery service for a variety of daily essentials. While it will only be available in Manhattan, initially, Prime Now will likely expand to more areas over time if it is successful. Such a delivery option will bring your orders to you faster than ever before!
The speedy delivery has limitations. You can’t expect to purchase a giant sofa and have it at your doorsteps 60 minutes later. However, you can purchase everyday items like shampoo, toilet paper, or batteries. One-hour delivery will cost $7.99 and two-hour delivery is free for Amazon Prime members.
An official dedicated Amazon Prime Now app has been launched on Android and iOS. If you have the app on your phone, you will receive an alert when Prime Now is available in your area.
The unique delivery service is available between 6AM and midnight, seven days a week, and all deliveries will be managed by a separate “portion” of Amazon’s facility. In one interview, Dave Clark, Amazon’s Senior Vice President of worldwide operations, said, “We’ve long felt that Amazon Prime is the best deal in the history of shopping and now it has gotten even better. Prime members in Manhattan are going to love this service and we cannot wait to roll out Prime Now to additional cities in 2015.”
