According to the likes of Reuters and Mashable, Samsung has officially released word that the consumer electronics manufacturer plans to launch the latest version of its smartphone-meets-table device, the Galaxy Note, at its Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin, August 29th.
Although Samsung has already launched what it considers its flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S III, it’s been rumored that the Galaxy Note could ruffle a few smartphone feathers – especially because its due to be released just weeks before Apple’s anticipated iPhone 5 launch, allegedly set to take place September 12th.
The original Galaxy Note was launched in 2011, fully equipped with a 5.3-inch screen and Android Ice Cream Sandwich on board. The device was well received, leading to the Samsung announcement in March 2012, where the manufacturer stated it had shipped 5 million Notes in just 5 months. Just 3 months later, in June 2012 the tally climbed even higher with a total of 7 million notes sold – let’s not forget what this did to Apple’s ego, as reports surfaced that Samsung outsold the iPhone and broke significant shipping records.
What do you think? Will Samsung give Apple a run for its money? Do you prefer the Galaxy or the iPhone? Only time will tell what the outcome of this mobile battle will be, stay tuned!
