IKEA, one of the world’s largest furniture retailers, has announced the introduction of a new line of furniture items that will feature integrated wireless charging capabilities.
The giant furniture retailer is committed to making homes smarter. IKEA is releasing new lines of floor lamps, table lamps, and work lamps. Each will feature a wireless charging spot. The seller will also be releasing two bedside tables and separate pads that can be added to existing set-ups.
Most smartphones will be compatible with IKEA’s new range of wireless charging furniture. All items support the Qi market standard. Qi is a system of wireless charging that relies on custom-designed cases for the phone to respond to the wireless inductive charging signals. If you own an iPhone or flagship Android from Samsung, IKEA will sell you a number of wireless charging covers that will allow you to take advantage of the power-giving furniture.
The furniture will go on sale in IKEA stores in the United States sometime in mid-April. Pricing will be announced in the near future.
