Electronics Design Group, an organization with extensive experience and expertise in the design, engineering, integration, and installation of custom home electronic systems, is once again celebrating the recognition of two of its projects. For the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) 2008 TechHome Mark of Excellence Awards, Silver Screen Sophistication is a finalist for the Best Home Theater/Media Room category and Four Point Play is a finalist in the Luxury Home of the Year category. Mark of Excellence recognizes the best in custom home electronics products, services and installed technology.

EDG’s home theater entry, Silver Screen Sophistication is one of the company’s most celebrated projects. The design team at EDG developed solutions to address several client requests and multiple design problems. The end result was a custom home theater with electronics valued at $129,000 that accommodates a large group of guests, incorporates a bar for entertaining, minimizes heat and noise with a remotely installed projector, hides speakers from view, and maintains unobstructed sight lines. The theater electronics, lighting and HVAC systems were all networked for control by a MiniTouch wireless touch panel, a handheld, lightweight, ergonomically designed controller.

Four Point Play is another exciting EDG design. The client, owners of a 20,000 sq. ft. home, requested an automation system that would fully integrate the lighting, multi-room audio, HVAC, telephones, dedicated home theater, home computer network, pool and spa controls, garage control, and security cameras to be controlled via touchpanels and PC’s throughout the home. The project required EDG’s coordination with interior designers, architects, and builders. The result: an extensive home automation system that leaves no stone unturned, a Lutron lighting control system that addresses home appearance every time of day, 10 energy-efficient heating and cooling zones, iPod docking stations throughout the estate, DVR and TiVo for every television and the ability to remotely adjust the pool and spa temperature so it’s ready when you are. EDG’s solution even incorporated clean walls with no visible switches, thermostats or remotes. It won the CEDIA Electronic Lifestyle Gold Medal for Best Integrated Home in 2007.

“We’re excited about being finalists for Mark of Excellence,” says President and Founder Bob Gullo. “It’s been a great run for EDG in the last several months. We’ve accumulated a nice collection of awards and hope to keep the momentum going. I’m proud of my team and glad they’re getting the recognition they deserve.”

EDG has taken home two Mark of Excellence awards in the past. In 2005 they were named Dealer of the Year and in 2007 they were winners in the Luxury Home of the Year category. 2008 winners will be announced at the Electronic Home Expo (EHX) spring event in Orlando, Florida.
