Amazon recently announced that it will offer free shipping on small, lightweight items for all customers, regardless of whether or not they have an Amazon Prime membership. This new shipping method will bring tiny items to peoples’ doorsteps within eight days of placing an order at no extra cost other than the price of the item itself! In order to qualify for this, items must weigh less than 8 ounces, measure under 9x6x2 inches, and cost less than $10.00.
Through these efforts, Amazon hopes to attract a wider customer audience. People who are more cost-aware and on a budget may be more likely to make small purchases online without a small additional shipment fee to worry about. In addition, this new program will serve as an alternative for customers who are not willing to pay the $99.00 a year for a Prime subscription.
These orders will all be fulfilled from Amazon’s Florence, Kentucky warehouse. Previously, customers had to spend at least $35.00 worth of goods to qualify for free standard shipping. With this new policy, a large number of items will qualify for free shipping on Amazon. The company hopes that customers will love this new option.
