HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE DONE RIGHT – Super UHD is LG’s best 4K LED TV, a Smart TV offering a superior viewing experience through advanced technologies delivering over a billion rich colors, smoother motion and elevated brightness plus HDR with Dolby Vision™.
HDR stands for high dynamic range. The term is also used in photography, with HDR on some cameras and many smartphones.
With televisions and photography, the intent is to recreate an image that’s as close to that seen by the human eye or to better recreate the vision of the original storyteller. That often means balancing out light and dark areas. For example, you wouldn’t want to lose shadow detail because of a bright sky, and vice versa.
When it comes to Television, capturing the original intent is handled in a couple of areas. The first is contrast, dealing specifically with the relationship between light and dark, and color. HDR offers a wider range of colors making all of this possible.
The results delivered by HDR should mean more magnificent colors. HDR aims to be a visually stunning experience. HDR is best used in situations where you have very bright and very dark areas in the same frame, like a candle in a dark room. With HDR, the viewer can now see the complete difference between the dark area in the room and the light of the candle. It provides for a much more enjoyable viewing experience.
HDR SUPER WITH DOLBY VISION™ – LG Super UHD TVs support both HDR10 and Dolby Vision™, delivering the look that filmmakers intended, while assuring full playability of current and upcoming HDR streaming content, such as Netflix.
IPS 4K QUANTUM DISPLAY – One of the secrets behind outstanding UHD performance is the specially designed display panel with in-plane switching. IPS delivers accurate colors that remain more consistent at wide viewing angles, with four times the resolution of Full HD. With IPS, any seat can be the best in the house.
LG OLED uses revolutionary self-lighting pixels, individually controlled to achieve perfect black and infinite contrast. It has an expanded color palette virtually identical to today’s digital cinemas, enjoyable from a wide viewing angle. LG OLED 4K TVs also support standard HDR and Dolby Vision™.
- Perfect Black – the individually illuminating OLED pixels can brighten, dim and power off fully to achieve perfect black. That means contrast—the ratio between the lightest and darkest areas of the screen—is truly infinite. Perfect black is essential to a more lifelike image as well as the great shadow detail you can only get with OLED.
- Cinematic Color – LG OLED TVs display a color palette that virtually matches the vast range of hues seen in today’s high-end digital cinemas. With over a billion rich colors at its disposal, LG OLED TV delivers a theater-quality experience at home.
- OLED HDR delivers a stunning high dynamic range picture, including support for Dolby Vision™ content. Enjoy brilliant brights and the deepest darks for infinite contrast, rich color and an exceptional viewing experience, closer to what filmmakers intended. With their perfect black and cinematic color, LG OLED TVs have also earned prestigious Ultra HD Premium certification.
- Wide Viewing Angle – LG OLED TV’s exceptional picture quality holds up even from wide viewing angles, so now everyone on the couch will have an ideal view of the action.
