3 Different Types of Shades

Wednesday, May 25, 2016

Modern shades run on autopilot and strive for efficiency all day and all night. Automatically adjusting based on the time of day, electronic shades maximize daylight. When the sun is up, they adjust accordingly to provide clients with just the right amount of light. Need privacy? There are blackout shades that completely stop light in addition to other types of fabric that may be suitable depending on what the client’s specific needs are. With a choice of transparent, translucent, and blackout options, there is a shade for every buyer.

Understand that not all shades are created equal. Many of these smart shades offer a number of advantages including being lead and PVC free, fire retardant, eco-friendly, microbe-resistant, and environmentally safe. Transparent fabrics transmit enough light that people could see objects through the weave of the fabric. This style has an openness factor between 3 to 17 percent. Translucent fabrics diffuse light to enhance privacy. With this style, you can only see shadows and silhouettes of objects. They have an openness factor between 1 and 3 percent. The final option are blackout shades. These offer advanced light blockage and privacy.

Shades do not need to be obtrusive. For a sleek look, shades can be installed with concealed pockets. This essentially means that they will retract into the ceiling and out of sight. This helps if clients are aiming for a minimalistic, sleek look. Alternatively, clients can opt for a more traditional fascia/top back cover option. This versatile option makes for a more finished appearance. This choice in style ultimately depends on a client’s preferences and style.

Motorized shades add beauty, convenience, and comfort throughout the home. The most premium brands are silent, convenient, and operate on a one-touch control. In addition, automated shades lower utility bills and increase the value of any home they are in. There is truly a plethora of reasons to invest in them.
